1. "I won’t resist the temptation to tell the anecdote of which the filmmaker Paul Fejos was the hero in 1936. He was on board a steamboat, off the shore of Denmark, when he took a fancy to a young starlet and journalist by the name of Inge Arvad. She had very much admired his watch, a little marvel of watchmaking, which showed not only the hours, minutes and seconds, but also the date and the phases of the moon. Paul Fejo stripped it from his wrist and held it out to Inge, saying: ‘It is yours’. Of course, the young woman refused. Upon which Fejos threw the watch overboard.
‘What could she do but marry him?’ adds John W. Dodds, Paul Fejos biographer."
    Mircea Eliade. Journal III (1970-1978).
